Testing Prerequisites:

A serum sample is required for comparison and generation of complete result profile

Collection Device/Tube Type:

3.5 mL blood - GOLD SST (gel)
Sterile CSF screw-capped tube

Collection Instructions:

Serum sample must be collected within 72 hours of CSF sample collection. Collection of serum sample at the same appointment as the CSF sample collection is preferred.

Submission Requirements:

1.5 mL CSF and 1 mL serum

Frequency of Testing:

Weekly

Reference Range:

Gel electrophoresis (isoelectric focusing): Interpretation is reported for banding in CSF compared to serum

Analysis includes:

•  Immunoglobulin G (IgG)
