- Testing Prerequisites:
- Patient must have presented with clumped platelets previously
- Collection Device/Tube Type:

4 mL blood - LAVENDER EDTA and 2.7 mL blood - LT BLUE CITRATE
- Collection Instructions:
-
• Immediate mix tube 8 - 10 times by gentle inversion
• Make slides from both tubes of blood
• Write on slide label EDTA or Citrate
• Keep tubes together (with the CBC or CBCD tube) using an elastic band - Submission Requirements:

• 1 mL whole blood
• Citrate tube must be full - Handling/Storage Comments:

- Comments:
- A routine platelet count is done to confirm a previous clumping platelet result. A clumped platelet count will then be performed on the citrate tube.
