1.0 mL CSF in a sterile container
5.0 mL blood in a serum separator tube (SST) OR 1.0 mL serum
Handling/Storage Comments:
CSF specimens:
•  must 
be received in the lab within 1 hour of collection
• 
DO NOT refrigerate
•  Store at room temperature
 
Serum specimens: 
If a transport is delayed, storage at 2-8ºC for up to 72 hours is permissible
