  • State specimen source
  • Provide clinical history. 
  • Submitted primarily for the detection of anal carriage of Streptococcus pyogenes, Other Beta-hemolytic Streptoccus species, and Staphylococcus aureus
  • Collection Device/Tube Type:
    E-swab collection device
    Swab in clear transport media
    Collection Instructions:

    1.

    Moisten swab with transport medium

    2.

    Swab perineal areas surrounding the anal orifice

    3.

    Pass the tip of a sterile swab approximately 2 cm beyond the anal sphincter

    4.

    Carefully rotate the swab to sample the anal crypts and withdraw the swab

    5.

    Carefully place swab back into the collection device without contaminating it
