Provision of relevant clinical information is important to ensure a clinically relevant result
Always provide/record:
 
•  clinical history - symptoms and signs, and their duration
•  reason for testing
•  medical device and body source
•  duration of time the medical device has been in-situ


Collection Device/Tube Type:
Sterile 60 mL plastic container (orange-top).
Collection Instructions:
1.  Aseptically remove medical device
2.  Place extracted medical device in sterile container.  Avoid further
     contamination with any other surfaces or materials

Handling and Storage:
Room temperature
Handling/Storage Comments:
Submit to Laboratory as soon as possible
Rejection Criteria:
Swab of medical device is not suitable for culture
