Comments:

If clinically indicated, collection of the above specimen types can be submitted for concurrent testing on the Panther system, for Chlamydia trachomatis and Neisseria gonorrhoeae

Handling/Storage Comments:
  • APTIMA collection devices:  Store and transport specimens collected, at 2ºC to 30ºC prior to testing
  • Submit specimens to the laboratory for testing as soon as possible (within 7 days of collection)

Rejection Criteria:
  • Mislabelled or unlabelled specimen/requisition
  • No swab in collection device
  • Dessicated swab/transport media
  • Delay of specimen receipt in laboratory of >72 hours
