Provision of relevant, clinical information is important to ensure a clinically relevant result Always provide/record • specimen source - specify: - Corneal scrapings - OS or OD • current antibiotic therapy and start date • clinical history - symptoms, signs, and their duration • If filamentous fungi/mold culture is required it must be recorded on the requisition

Organisms are more readily detected in scrapings than from a swab
